Mintimer Shaimiev makes the first move at the Women’s Candidates Tournament

On May 31, the Women’s Candidates Tournament held by the Russian Chess Federation for the right to play in a match for the title of world champion in classical chess given by the International Chess Federation (FIDE) started in Kazan.

Tatarstan Counsellor, Member of the Board of Trustees of the Russian Chess Federation Mintimer Shaimiev attend the first day of the tournament and was entrusted with the right to make the first move. He traditionally made E2: E4 move for Aleksandra Kosteniuk, who is playing against Aleksandra Goryachkina.

Then, Shaimiev visited a tent on Bauman Street to broadcast matches of the women’s candidates tournament and talked to those, who are keen on chess.
