Mintimer Shaimiev meets Francesco Bandarin

On June 20, at the Kazan Kremlin, Tatarstan State Counsellor, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Revival Regional Foundation, UNESCO Special Envoy for International Dialogue Mintimer Shaimiev met a member of the Committee of the Aga Khan Award, former Deputy Director General of UNESCO Francesco Bandarin.

At the beginning of the meeting, Shaimiev and Bandarin looked around the exposition on the activities of the Revival Regional Foundation for the preservation of historical and cultural heritage. Shaimiev told the guest about the results of projects on the revival of the Kazan Kremlin, the ancient city of Bolgar and the island town of Sviyazhsk.

Bandarin said that he had previously visited Tatarstan, but this time he has come to the republic as a coordinator of a draft book on the cultural and historical heritage of Tatarstan and the contribution of the Revival Foundation to its preservation.

“We know that you attach great importance to heritage and have been engaged in its revival for many years. You, like no one else, understand that it is very important for building an intercultural dialogue,” Bandarin said.

Then, Shaimiev gave an interview for a book.

The meeting also discussed issues of cooperation with a world famous Aga Khan Foundation, which will hold events related to the presentation of the activities of the Foundation in Kazan this September.
