Mintimer Shaimiev meets Ilbert Ortayli and Tashansu Turker

On October 9, in the Kazan Kremlin, Tatartsan State Counsellor, Chairman of Board of Trustees of the Revival Regional Foundation Mintimer Shaimiev met well-known in the Turkic world historians, professors, doctors of historical sciences Ilbert Ortayli and Tashansu Turker from Turkey.

The guests from Turkey took part in a round table on preservation of cultural heritage, rapprochement and mutual enrichment of cultures, nations and ethnicities, which was held at the Institute of International Relations, History and Oriental Studies of the Kazan Federal University a few days ago.

Ilber Ortayli and Tashansu Turker, accompanied by Consul General of the Turkish Republic in Kazan Turhan Dilmaç, got acquainted with the exposition dedicated to the seven-year activity of the Revival Foundation in Bolgar and Sviyazhsk, as well as its new projects such as the Bolgar Islamic Academy and the reconstruction of the Cathedral of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God.

The meeting discussed cooperation between Turkey and Tatarstan in the field of science, culture and preservation of historical heritage.

The guests presented Shaimiev with the Tartarika atlas translated into Turkish on the initiative of the Consul General of the Republic of Turkey in Kazan. The project was implemented by the Union of Municipalities of the Turkic World and the Sh. Mardzhani Institute of History of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan with the sponsorship of the Turkish Kastamonu Company, a resident of the Alabuga Special Economic Zone.

They said that the presentation of the Tatarica atlas in Turkish will be held in the art gallery of the Dolmabahçe Palace in Istanbul tomorrow.
