On May 3, at the Kazan Arena Stadium, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov chaired a joint extended meeting of the regional Security Council, the Counter-Terrorism Commission, the Coordinating meeting on ensuring law and order, the regional interdepartmental operational headquarters on ensuring security during the FIFA World Cup in Kazan, the operational headquarters in Tatarstan and the Commission on preventing and eliminating emergency situations and ensuring fire safety.
Tatarstan State Council Mintimer Shaimiev, Chairman of the State Council of the republic Farid Mukhametshin, Prime Minister of the republic Aleksey Pesoshin, Secretary to Security Council of the republic Airat Shafigullin and representatives of the ministries and agencies of the republic took part in the meeting.
“More than a month is left until the FIFA World Cup starts. We are on the home stretch in terms of preparation. The most important task is to hold the tournament at a high level. We must ensure safety of participants, guests, residents of the city and the republic,” Minnikhanov said in his opening speech.
He stressed that it is necessary to ensure security in all spheres, including the safety of both an individual participant and a facility of the championship, as well as all the resources attracted and used and infrastructure facilities.
"Much work is being done to ensure counter-terrorist protection of facilities, fire, water and road safety, to ensure sustainable energy supply, reliable operation of industrial enterprises, maintain epidemiological welfare, and information security,” Minnikhanov said.
At the same time, according to Tatarstan President, there are a number of problematic issues to be dealt with. "Our task is to identify the existing shortcomings and find the ways to address them," Minnikhanov concluded
