Mintimer Shaimiev takes part in the meeting with activists of the Russian National Cultural Association of Tatarstan

On June 6, at the Jalil Tatar Academic State Opera and Ballet Theatre, during events dedicated to the Russian Language Day and the 219th anniversary of birth of Alexander Pushkin, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with activists of the Russian National Cultural Association of Tatarstan. 

Tatarstan State Counsellor Mintimer Shaimiev, Chief of Staff of Tatarstan President’s Administration Asgat Safarov, Deputy Prime Minister of the republic Leila Fazleeva , Minister of Education and Science of the republic Rafis Burganov, Tatarstan Minister of Culture Irada Ayupova, Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin and other officials took part in the meeting.

Deputy Chairman of the Council of the Assembly of Peoples of Tatarstan, Deputy Chairman of the Russian National Cultural Association of the republic, Chairman of the Council of the Russian National Cultural Association of Kazan Irina Aleksandrovskaya and Board Chairman of the Russian National Cultural Association of Tatarstan, a member of the Tatarstan Presidential Council for Inter-ethnic and Inter-сonfessional Relations Vasily Nosov and activists from the municipal regions of the republic represented the Association at the meeting.

Welcoming the participants of the event, Minnikhanov noted that such meetings have become a good tradition. “Your efforts to preserve and develop the native language, attracting people who are not indifferent to this movement are very important,” Minnikhanov emphasized and he wished the activists to continue their systematic and staged work in this direction.

Nosov reminded that this is the fourth meeting of representatives of the Association with leadership of the republic. During these years, significant improvement has been made in the work of the Association.

Memorial plaques for the merchant of the first guild, patron Yakov Shamov and for the famous surgeon Dmitry Likhachev were established in Kazan.

Two new streets in the newly constructed microdistrict "Zalesny City" were named after Gabriel Derzhavin and Yevgeny Boratynsky in Kazan. The streets will be included in the address plan of the city and register of names of streets in Kazan. Many other important issues and accomplished work were discussed during the meeting.
