On June 8, at the Kazan Kremlin, Tatarstan State Counsellor Mintimer Shaimiev had a meeting with a new Consul General of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Kazan Yerkin Tukumov.
The Consulate General of Kazakhstan was opened in Kazan in 2012. Askhat Nuskabay was its first Consul General, who completed his assignment in Tatarstan in November, 2017.
Tukumov took office as the Consul General of Kazakhstan in Kazan since March of the current year.
Shaimiev congratulated Tukumov on the beginning of his work in Tatarstan and wished him success.
He told the guest about some events related to the history of cooperation between Tatarstan and Kazakhstan and meetings with President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev.
During the meeting, Shaimiev and Tukumov discussed issues on increasing contacts between two republics in the sphere of economy, culture, science, education and preservation of cultural heritage.
