On September 27, in the Kazan Kremlin, Tatarstan State Counsellor, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Regional Revival Foundation Mintimer Shaimiev had a meeting with volunteers of the Assembly of Tourist Volunteers of Tatarstan.
Shaimiev congratulated Chairman of the regional State Committee for Tourism Sergey Ivanov and participants of the meeting, tourist volunteers, on a professional holiday, the World Tourism Day.
“You are young people, who are doing this important and necessary thing from the heart and soul. The volunteer movement is fine for everyone, for the whole society. And this is the way to success for each of you,” he said.
Shaimiev noted that in modern Russia, the volunteer movement, including the tourist volunteering, was one of the first in Tatarstan. It is an essential part of the tourist industry of the republic. Today, young people in bright, noticeable clothes are ready to tell the guests of the republic about the sights in almost any language of the world and to help them navigate.
Tatarstan State Counsellor highlighted excellent work of Tatarstan volunteers during the Summer Universiade 2013 and the FIFA World Cup, when many foreign guests came not only to the sport event but also to get acquainted with the history and culture of Russia and Tatarstan.
General Director of the Assembly Yulia Bashirova informed about new projects implemented in three territories of Tatarstan such as Kazan, the ancient city of Bolgar and the island-town of Sviyazhsk, where UNESCO World Heritage Sites are located.
At the end of the meeting, Shaimiev handed in Letters of Gratitude of the Regional Revival Foundation to the best volunteers of Tatarstan.
