On December 10, a solemn event dedicated to the Day of the Heroes of the Fatherland, celebrated annually on December 9 in Russia, was held at the Kazan City Hall.
Heroes of the Soviet Union and the Russian Federation, Hero of Socialists Labour, Full Cavalier of the Order of Labour Glory, relatives, friends and family members of heroes awarded posthumously were invited to the event.
Prime Minister of the republic Aleksey Pesoshin congratulated Tatarstan citizens, who were awarded this high award on behalf of Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, the Government and the State Council of the republic.
He emphasized that there are 32 Heroes of the Fatherland living in Tatarstan, in particular, Hero of the Soviet Union Boris Kuznetsov, three Heroes of the Russian Federation, 22 Heroes of Socialists Labour, five Full Cavaliers of the Order of Labour Glory and Hero of Labour of Russia Mintimer Shaimiev.
In November this year, native of Bugulma, cosmonauts-tester Sergey Ryzhikov was awarded the title of Hero of the Russian Federation for courage and heroism, shown in a long-term space flight.
“Tatarstan citizens are proud of the Heroes of Labor, who had made significant efforts to develop modern economy and industry, laid the foundation for well-being and social and political stability of our state,” Pesoshin concluded.
