PACE President: "Tatarstan - an example of correct relations with the federal center"

Mevlut Cavusoglu, President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, called the Republic of Tatarstan, an example of building right relations with the federal center.

"Tatarstan - an example for many in terms of building relations with the federal center, in which there is a complete agreement and mutual assistance", - said today Mevlut Cavusoglu, President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe in the meeting with Mintimer Shaimiev, RT State Counselor, in Kazan Kremlin.

Ilyas Umakhanov, Vice-Chairman of the Council of Federation, Konstantine Tsitsin, CEO - Chairman of the Fund for Housing and Public Utilities Reform, Farid Mukhametshin, Chairman of the State Council of Tatarstan Republic and other officials took part in the meeting.

The First President of Tatarstan emphasized that Mevlut Cavusoglu - the first representative of Turkey, who headed the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. “We have interesting historical connections with your republic. Today we have all conditions to develop our relations”, - Mintimer Shaimiev said.

In turn, distinguished guest noted that this was his first visit to the republic. “Tatarstan - a very developed region of the Russian Federation, rich in various senses - not only natural resources but also cultural and religious traditions. I also impressed by economic development of Tatarstan, the pace of construction in the capital - Kazan. Tatarstan may be the perfect example for others as a model of relations with the federal center, where there is complete agreement and mutual support. This is the best way to maintain stability in the region”, - Mevlut Cavusoglu said.

PACE President thanked Mintimer Shaimiev, as the First President of Tatarstan for good efforts for the republic. "It is gratifying that on the position of RT State Counselor you continue to take active position and do many things for the further development of the republic. Projects to revive the Bulgarians and Sviyazhsk with which we are familiar today - a good example of this activity”, - distinguished guest turned to Mintimer Shaimiev.

Mevlut Cavusoglu said that his job as a President of PACE - work without double standards. "Now the atmosphere in the relations of the Parliamentary Assembly and the Russian Federation is very positive. Hopefully, we will continue to cooperate like partners”, - he said.
