"Art weapons from the State Hermitage Museum" was presented in Kazan

“Art arm of the State Hermitage collection” exposition was opened in the center “Hermitage Kazan” of the Kazan Kremlin on February, 10. Unique significant sites of gunnery, items of applied and decorative art, artworks and from 6 sections of the State Hermitage are presented to Kazan dwellers. Many of 1205 exposits are presented to public for the first time.

Among the guests of honor of the exposition were Mintimer Shaimiev, State Advisor of the Republic of Tatarstan, Director of the State Hermitage, Mikhail Piotrovsky, President of the Union of Museums of Russia, Zilya Valeeva, Deputy Minister of Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan, Minister of Culture of Tatarstan.

The exposition consists of 4 sections. The first section is devoted to the earliest kinds of arm (from palaeolith to the Middle Ages), the second tells us about arm of the Easter countries, the third presents us exposits of the Russian gunnery of XVII-XIX centuries, the fourth shows art collection of Western Europe countries of XV-XIX centuries.

Various kinds of arm (defensive, cold, firearm) are presented in the exposition. “Art arm of the State Hermitage collection” exposition is opened for visitors until October, 9, 2011.
