Shaimiev agrees to become FIDE President’s advisor

The Republic of Tatarstan State Counselor Mintimer Shaimiev sent a gratifying letter to President of the International Chess Federation FIDE Kirsan Ilyumzhinov.

The Elista office of FIDE informs that the first President of Tatarstan accepted Mr Ilyumzhinov’s proposal to become his advisor.

“I sincerely thank you for the shown confidence and appointing me as the International Chess Federation (FIDE) President’s senior advisor. You rendered me the honor of serving the development of chess, this great game, in the Republic of Tatarstan,” Mintimer Shaimiev wrote.

Mr Ilyumzhinov has been heading the FIDE International Chess Federation since 1995.
