Tatarstan State Counselor meets with Turkey Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Russia

Tatarstan State Counselor Mintimer Shaimiev met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Turkish Republic to Russia Aydin Sezgin. The meeting took place at the Kazan Kremlin on Wednesday. The following officials took part in the meeting from the Turkish side: Consul General of Turkey in Kazan Ahmet Tuta, First Secertary of the Turkish Republic in Russia Sadin Ayildyz; from Tatarstan side – Director of the International Contacts Department – RT President’s aide for international affairs Timur Akulov, deputy head of RT State Counselor’s secretaria Eugeny Grishin, Tatarstan Plenipotentiary Representative in Turkey Radik Gimatdinov, head of RT President’s International Contacts Department sector for Americas, Europe and CIS Edward Khabibullin.

Mintimer Shaimiev thanked the guest for the visit to the republic. The Turkish Republic delegation headed by the ambassador takes part in the Russian-Turkish Forum in Kazan these days.

RT State Counselor emphasized that the delegation from Turkey had attended the presentation of the book “The Tatar History And Civilization” – the first large-scale work on Tatars, Tatarstan published in English. “But for mutual desire both from Turkey and Russia, striving for establishing overall fraternal relations, such work wouldn’t appear,” Mintimer Shaimiev said.

The first President of Tatarstan noted that friendly relations had been established between Tatarstan and Turkey. Cooperation between the two republic is being developed in almost all fields within the inter-government Agreement on commercial-economic, scientific-technical and cultural cooperation from May 22, 1995.
