Mintimer Shaimiev visits the island town of Sviyazhsk

June 30, Tatarstan State Councillor Mintimer Shaimiev visited the island town of Sviyazhsk where he examined the course of restoration works in the framework of the comprehensive project ‘Cultural Heritage of Tatarstan: ancient town of Bolgar and island town of Sviyazhsk’.

The Centre of archaeological research of the History Institution named after Shigabiddin Mardzhani is carrying out archeological research on the island involving students of Kazan State Technical University, Zelenodolsk Mechanical College and volunteers. Findings will be exposed at the Sviyazhsk History Museum.

Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Culture ZIlya Valeyeva, Head of the Secretariat of the Tatarstan State Councillor Zyavdat Salikhov, Aide to the Tatarstan President on social issues, Head of the Republican Fund of revival of historical and cultural monuments Tatyana Larionova, Head of the Zelenodolsk Municipal District Sergei Batin and other officials accompanied the Tatarstan State Councillor.
