Mintimer Shaimiev: the Day of Adoption of Islam will appear in Tatarstan soon

June 9, Tatarstan parliamentarians will consider the issues of the address by deputies of the RT State Council to Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Boris Gryzlov on introduction of a new memorial date – the Day of official adoption of Islam in Russia – to the list of Russian memorial dates.

During the break, Tatarstan State Councillor Mintimer Shaimiev told journalists that the initiative about the new memorial date was put forward and would be discussed at the federal centre. The First Tatarstan President is confident that if the RT State Council’s proposal is not supported in the RF State Duma, the republican parliament will adopt a decision to include the memorial date of the Day of official adoption of Islam to the Tatarstan calendar of memorial dates.
