Lukoil to take part in restoring Bolgar City and Sviyazhsk island town

The Tatarstan’s State Counsellor Mintimer Shaimiev and JSC Lukoil’s President Vagit Alikperov have today met at the premises of the Kazan Kremlin representative office.

The first Tatarstan President, Revival Fund advisory board chairman thanked Vagit Alikperov for responding to the ancient city of Bolgar and Sviyazhsk island town reconstruction initiative. He thanked the Lukoil and Ritek firms' management for social projects implemented in Tatarstan.

“Thank you for the good words. I am well informed of the course of implementing the Bolgar and Sviyazhsk restoration project,” said Vagit Alikperov. According to him, Lukoil is set to participate in restoring historical and cultural monuments.

Mintimer Shaimiev and Vagit Alikperov went on, signing a memorandum on Lukoil’s participation in restoring the Bolgar City and Sviyazhsk island town historical and cultural monuments in Tatarstan.

Lukoil, reads the document, assumes the obligation to finance the restoration work. The company will in 2010-2012 allocate 45 million roubles, 15 million a year.

“Thank you for the support. A good beginning,” Mintimer Shaimiev said after the signing.

Several Tatarstan-based companies have displayed willingness to be involved in the Bolgar and Sviyazhsk monuments restoration project. JSC Lukoil was the first Russian firm to take part in the project.
