Mintimer Shaimiev: Sviyazhsk should turn into a blossoming garden

Tatarstan State Counsellor Mintimer Shaimiev visited the island city of Sviyazhsk, the Zelenodolsk Municipal District, Tatarstan on April 28.

RT Deputy Prime Minister Zilya Valeyeva, RT Transport and Roads Minister Lenar Safin, Executive Director of the State Housing Fund under the RT President Talgat Abdullin Head of the Zelenodolsk Municipal District Radik Khasanov, Father Superior Siluan of the Sviyazhsk Monastery accompanied the Tatarstan First President.

Mintimer Shaimiev visited the utility yard of the Sviyazhsk Monastery complex where the stable is to be restored. It is also planned to create an Arts Gallery. The territory of the former boarding school is to house the Museum of the Sviyazhsk History.

“There should be a blossoming garden here,” Mintimer Shaimiev declared going around the facilities. He believes the primary task is to build supply pipelines. Soon gas and a sewage system will appear on the island; power and water supply will be improved; new river and bus stations will be built.

Mintimer Shaimiev also visited the Church of saint tsar Konstantin and his mother tsarina Elena which is the first venue pilgrims and tourists see coming to the island.
