Rustam Minnikhanov: It’s not a big issue to find a hundred of flats for veterans in Kazan

Tatarstan Prime Minister Rustam Minnikhanov is confident that the republic can provide housing to all veterans by the 65th Victory Anniversary.

‘As far as war veterans are concerned, you can do whatever you want but you have to provide them with housing,’ Rustam Minnikhanov told the participants of the traditional weekly meeting at the RT Cabinet of Ministers.

The Prime Minister emphasized that by the Victory Day the state must provide flats to the veterans who had applied for improvement of their housing conditions before March 1, 2005. There are over 6,400 Tatarstanians on the additional list; they submitted documents for housing improvement after that date.

The Prime Minister said the head of the RT State Housing Foundation, Talgat Abdullin, would be personally responsible for provision of housing for the veterans. He expressed perplexity over the fact that the foundation could not find the needed number of flats. ‘Why cannot we provide all the veterans in Kazan? A hundred of flats in Kazan is not a big issue for us – it is not too bad if the others waiting for the flats will get them 30-45 days later.’
