In 2010, the Republic of Tatarstan was included in the federal vascular programme with 236-million-rouble funding from the federal budget, said the Tatarstan Health Minister Airat Farrakhov at a ministry staff meeting. Attendees at the meeting were the Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Ravil Muratov and Russia’s Chief Sanitary Inspector Gennady Onischenko.

The Tatarstan Health Ministry last year focused on the development of high-technology medical help (HTMH). Nine healthcare institutions render high-technology medical help in Tatarstan on 19 specialities and 106 types (81 percent of the total list of high-technology medical help). In 2009, 19,216 patients received high-technology medical help within state orders.

“In 2010, we managed to double federal funding of HTMH, including new institutions and more types of help. In terms of financing HTMH, the republic ranks second in Russia,” noted the minister.

This year, the republic has been included in the federal vascular programme, with financing from the federal budget of 236 million roubles. The programme should allow replacing obsolete high-technology medical equipment in some centres.

Airat Farrakhov noted that the Republic Clinical Hospital had in January launched a 9th vascular centre. The Tatarstan Health Ministry plans this year to open a 10th centre in Zelenodolsk and in 2011 in Bugulma and Yelabuga.

Over the short time the vascular centres have been active, the insult mortality rate has reduced 17 percent.
