“The main task, to maintain social stability, set by the Government of Russia and Tatarstan leaders, has been implemented. The adopted anti-crisis programmes have produced tangible results,” reported today Prime Minister of Tatarstan Roustam Minnikhanov to the international conference “Russia and the World: New Decade’s Challenges”, held at the Academy of National Economy under the government of Russia in Moscow.

Attendees at the conference are Russia’s First Vice-Premier Igor Shuvalov, Economic Development Minister Elvira Nabiullina and others.

Prime Minister of Tatarstan reported of the last year’s results. “We were strongly involved in the implementation of an anti-crisis programme on the jobs market. About 300 thousand people were engaged in community service, self-employment and retraining courses,” he stressed. According to Minnikhanov, 2,400 houses were last year renovated within a federal major repair programme. Some 26 thousand builders were involved. “The construction industry had been badly affected by the crisis, and we therefore paid special attention to implementing the major repair and affordable housing programmes. In 2009, about 11 thousand flats at 22-23 thousand roubles per square metre were in Tatarstan offered to people needing residences,” the Premier said.
