Igor Shuvalov: “The programme of supporting employment will in 2010 be continued”

Tatarstan may count on support from the federal centre, said Russia’s First Vice-premier Igor Shuvalov after a meeting at the Cabinet of Ministers, attended by the President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev.

The First Deputy Chairman of the government of Tatarstan Ravil Muratov said in a report that the local real sector had in the time of the crisis received 110 billion roubles. “110 billion roubles has been allocated from all the sources for anti-crisis measures. They include the Taneko project, Universiade venues and major repair – the money has been given directly to people, to the republic’s economy,” enhanced Muratov.

The Tatarstan Prime Minister Roustam Minnikhanov noted that a federal programme of auto vehicles purchasing for municipal needs had helped auto manufacturers in Tatarstan. “We in this republic have bought over 1,000 vehicles. This is support for Kamaz and Sollers,” stressed the Prime Minister.

The chairman of the government praised the programme of supporting employment, first of all, of community service. “Kamaz has been strongly helped by community service, without it, the plant would have had a real crisis,” Minnikhanov considers.

The prime minister went on to remark on the programmes of pre-emptive training and self-employment facilitation, implemented within the federal progamme aimed to reduce tensions on the job market.

“The progamme of countering unemployment should be continued, it is very helpful,” Minnikhanov is confident. “This is real support for the citizens.” According to the Prime Minister, Tatarstan was preparing another request for 3 billion roubles to be allocated from the federal budget for a similar programme.

Russia’s First Vice-premier Igor Shuvalov praised the results of an unemployment programme run in Tatarstan. “Your efficiency in implementing the programmes this year is guarantee for you spending money intelligently,” he said to the Tatarstan’s executives. “36 billion roubles has been earmarked for an employment programme next year. Develop your programme, and we will not have any delays on our part.”
