Friend-or-foe system to be installed on Tatneft transport

JSC Tatneft continues to develop a project on monitoring motor vehicles using the GPS technology.

A total of 5,218 units of transport have so far been connected to the satellite navigation system. This is one of the largest projects involving satellite monitoring in Russia.

Applying the system has allowed Tatneft reduce costs 20 percent and minimise traffic accident. Since the system was launched in 2006, the aggregate fuel economy has exceeded 200 million roubles, said the company’s press service. Following the Tatneft example, JSC Orenburgneft is implementing the system.

New applications within the technology have been developed and are being tested. The Friend-or-Foe programme for instance allows a fuel tanker only fill special vehicles registered by the system or assigned to it. Control over fuel spending during steam generation by mobile steamers has been organised as well.
