Director of the Institute of Archeology of Russian Academy of Sciences, academician Nikolay Makarov expressed his gratitude on behalf of organizing committee and participants of the IV (XX) All-Russia archeological congress that was held on October 20-25 in Kazan to Tatarstan State Counsellor, Chairman of the Board of Guardians of the Regional Foundation of Revival of Historical and Cultural Monuments Mintimer Shaimiev for support in holding this important professional event in Kazan.

“Your personal participation in opening of the IV (XX) All-Russia archeological congress gave impetus to its work. The forum was held in the atmosphere of sincere commitment, overall support and professionalism, most topical issues of history, archeology, and heritage were discussed. The pre-revolutionary tradition to hold professional congresses of archeologists continued, giving the opportunity to share practices, study results of research projects, and discuss archeological issues socially important for preservation of heritage and support of historical memory of peoples of Russia.

Your role in preservation of historical monuments of the Republic of Tatarstan, promotion of objects of archeological and historical heritage in UNESCO World Heritage List gave us hope that a many-sided historical and cultural chronicle of peoples of Russia will be recreated.

In the modern world the importance of studying and preservation of archeological heritage makes it one of the most essential areas of cultural policy. Today archeological heritage is the evidence of cultural wealth and depth of national historical memory embodied in historical monuments of our country. On behalf of our professional society I express my gratitude to you, highly respected Mintimer Sharipovich, for caring for preservation of monuments and supporting the science.”
