Welcoming the audience, Zilya Valeeva said that in the morning Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov handed the “Order of merits for the Republic of Tatarstan” to Director General of the State Hermitage Mikhail Piotrovsky on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the State Hermitage.

Mintimer Shaimiev, in his turn, addressed the guests with welcoming speech:

“From time to time, treasures of the world-known Hermitage are displayed to Tatarstan citizens by the initiative of Mikhail Piotrovsky. You show us the example of how we should love our work. 1.5 million people visit the museum reserve “The Kazan Kremlin” every year. Our guests have an opportunity to see high art, and they do not have to go to Moscow or St. Petersburg. They can just come to Kazan and tell other people about the exhibition afterwards. This is how we grow, and become spiritually rich. We appreciate everything you do for us.”

Then, Shaimiev handed state awards of the republic to employees of the State Hermitage and museum reserve “The Kazan Kremlin”.

After the opening ceremony high guests looked around the exhibition “Results of all centuries. The age of historicism in Russia. 1820-1890s”.
