Director of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of Siberian Academy of Sciences Anatoly Derevyanko sent a letter of gratitude addressed to Tatarstan State Counsellor, Chairman of the Board of Guardians of Regional Foundation of the Revival of Historical and Cultural Monuments Mintimer Shaimiev saying that the archeological congress was successfully held in Kazan. 600 scientists from many regions took part in the event.
He noted that during the competent and thorough discussion a comprehensive approach in studying different problems of ancient and medieval history of Russia was realized, civilizational and ethno-cultural aspects of its development were defined, and new perspectives in modern historical and archeological researches were found, which opens wide opportunities of cooperation of our scientists.
Anatoly Derevyanko thanked Tatarstan Government, Academy of Sciences, Kazan Federal University, scientific and educational organizations and personally Mintimer Shaimiev for successful holding of the congress.
“Our archeologists and scientists know well about your outstanding activity on revival of Tatarstan cultural heritage. We can say that the visit to ancient Bolgar and Sviyazhsk was one of the most important events of the congress. It is obvious that these major scientific and restoration works would be impossible without your participation. Active and efficient historical and archeological researches conducted in the republic make Kazan one of the biggest centers of humanitarian science in Russia. Tatarstan experience in this major scientific, public and educational work surely needs to be promoted. Nowadays integration of activity of research organizations guarantees successful development of science.
As for Tatarstan, a good example of forward-looking scientific policy in the republic is creation of the Institute of Archeology. We know about your important role in creation and active support of this scientific organization. Considering challenging and contradictory events happening in Russian science in connection with the reform of Russian Academy of Sciences, Tatarstan gives hope that famous Russian scientific schools will be developing. I express my deepest gratitude to you for overall support of historical and archeological researches in the republic and country.”
