Mintimer Shaimiev takes part in seminar on cultural heritage planning and management

On February 12 professor of International institute of cultural heritage management of Brandenburg University of Technology, Cottbus (Germany), UNESCO expert in the sphere of archeological heritage preservation Mrs Britta Rudolff delivered a lecture “Strategic cultural heritage planning and management” at Kazan state university of architecture and engineering.

State Counsellor and Chairman of Guardian Council of Regional Foundation of Revival of Historical and Cultural Monuments Mintimer Shaimiev, Minister of Culture Airat Sibagatullin, officials and representatives of scientific community took part in the event.

Mintimer Shaimiev said that major efforts are taken in the republic in the sphere of cultural heritage preservation, noting that it is very important for present-day and future generations. He told, in particular, about reconstruction work carried out in Bolgar and Sviyazhsk, and lack of experts in this sphere. Therefore, seminars with participation of international experts are so important for us, he added.

Extensive work is also performed on preservation of objects of cultural heritage, one of which is the Kazan Kremlin, a UNESCO world heritage site.

Britta Rudolff told about activity of Brandenburg University of Technology, and a special course in world heritage. She invited everyone to lectures dedicated to world heritage convention and general idea about world heritage that will be held at Kazan state university of architecture and engineering these days.

Mintimer Shaimiev noted that it is a very prospective area for Russia, and added that Tatarstan students should undergo training abroad to acquire necessary knowledge in the sphere of cultural heritage preservation.
