Winners of Regional contest "Philanthropist of the year 2013" awarded in Kazan

On March 17, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, Tatarstan State Counsellor Mintimer Shaimiev, Chairman of Tatarstan State Council Farid Mukhametshin and other officials took part in a solemn awarding of the winners of Regional contest “Philanthropist of the year 2013” at the Dzhalil Tatar State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre in Kazan.

To the point, the contest was established in 2007 by the Republican Council for charity issues. Throughout the history of the contest, 1075 applications have been submitted from regional enterprises, organisations and charity foundations, with the donation fund totaling to 22.5 billion roubles.

The most active philanthropists were awarded at today’s ceremony.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mintimer Shaimiev reminded that 2007 was announced the Year of charity due to a large amount of good deeds done in a number of areas and there appeared the need to let all Tatarstan society know about them at the government level. The idea was supported and today the charities exist in various spheres of life.

“This movement and our deeds improve and create the image of our native Tatarstan,” Mintimer Shaimiev said and opened the awarding ceremony.

JSC “Generating company”, Kazan helicopter plant, Kazan Motor-building Production Association, Tatarstan National Charity Fund “Bulgar”, the Dzhalil Tatar State Academic Opera and Ballet theatre are among organisations that have been giving their support to those who in need for many years.

Farid Mukhametshin presented awards to representatives of voluntary movements, in particular, to the voluntary center “Volunteer” (Naberezhney Chelny), public organisation for searching missing children “Chelny Search “Vasilisa”, Chistopol volunteer movement support center and others.

Ildar Khalikov presented awards to enterprises and organisations contributed to the construction of the first Tatarstan Children’s Hospice.

Also, representatives of traditional religions contribute to charities. They help sick, elderly and low-income people, giving them free meal and monetary support. Representatives of the Orthodox Church, Islam and Judaic Community were awarded for the first time within the framework of the regional contest "Philanthropist of the year”.

People contributed to the development of the native regions were also awarded at the ceremony.

Tatarstan President awarded permanent contest participants, such as “TAIF”, “Nizhnekamskneftekhim”, “Tattelecom”, “Maisky Greenhouse Combine” and others.

At the end of the ceremony, all its participants came on the stage and call the guests to do good deeds.
