The President of the Russian Federation, Dmitri Medvedev, congratulated the President of the Republic of Tatarstan, Mintimer Shaimiev, on the Day of People’s Unity.

"Dear Mintimer Sharipovich! I congratulate you on the state holiday – the Day of People’s Unity.

We observe it as a token of respect for the historic feat of our people, age-old traditions of civil solidarity and patriotism that helped maintain freedom of our Homeland and consolidate the Russian statehood.
