Kazan is likely to host congress on field hockey a year before Universiade-2012

The International Hockey Federation President Leandro Negre is convinced that Tatarstan’s model of working in field hockey development has no analogues in Russia. He stated it at a meeting with RT First Deputy Prime Minister Boris Pavlov as a part of All-Russia sports forum “Russia – Sports Power” in Kazan.

Boris Pavlov and the International Hockey Federation President Leandro Negre (Spain) visited the Republic of Tatarstan Field Hockey Centre. Mr Negre highly appreciated the prospects of Olympic sport development in the republic, Tatarstan Cabinet of Ministers’ press-service informs.

“Tatarstan’s working model in field hockey development has no analogues in Russia: there is a well-equipped the Center of Field Hockey, which offers exceptional conditions for trainings both to eminent sport clubs, children and youth schools – it is a core precondition for any sports development, as it provides an opportunity to train own sportsmen,” Leandro Negre stated. According to his words it is important that Tatarstan keeps abreast of the world sports community and takes into account new products in high technologies. A good example is the Sport Medicine Centre, which was presented to Mr Negre.

At a meeting with Boris Pavlov, the International Field Hockey Federation President Leandro Negre proposed to hold a congress on field hockey in Kazan in 2012 and date it to organization of an international tournament. Boris Pavlov thanked Mr Negre for the proposal and said that a corresponding application would be prepared in the near future and agreed with the republican authorities.
