The display presented by Kamaz was one of the most prominent ones in the Russian and auto sectors at the 18th Vietnam International Industrial Fair VIIF 2009 that on October 20 opened in Vietnam’s capital Hanoi. The company’s press service said it in a statement.

The visitors and experts were able to see the popular Kamaz-6520 6x4 truck, with a capacity of 20 tonnes, in high demand among Vietnamese customers, the Kamaz-6540 8x4 four-axis vehicle, whose chassis is used as a frame for construction and other special vehicles, as well as the 12.5-cubic-metre VMIC-12 auto cistern on the Kamaz-53229 chassis.

The Vietnam market has always been one of the strategically important and priority foreign markets for Kamaz. According to the company’s management, Vietnam is the base country for doing business in the entire Asia Pacific region. In Hanoi, a representation of the Kamaz Foreign Trade Company is active. In 2003, the state-run corporation Vinacomin became Kamaz’s strategic partner in Vietnam.

Vietnam and Russia signed a cooperation agreement during the President of Vietnam Nguen Minh Tiet’s visit. Within the agreement, a Kamaz truck assembly facility was set up in the city of Kamfa, Kuangnin province, Vmic (Vinacomin Motor Industry Joint Stock Company), and in 2009 the Kamvia (Kamaz-V-Itasco Automobile Joint Stock Company) commerce and service firm.

Vietnam presently operates about 15 thousand Kamaz vehicles. Kamaz and its Vietnamese partners’s next task is therefore to set up a nation-wide service network. Besides, the parties intend to promote production of autos in Vietnam. In particular, the existing assembly facilities are to be expanded.
