Russian President Dmitry Medvedev visited the Tennis Academy

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev visited the Kazan Academy of Tennis on October 23 where President of the Russian Tennis Federation, member of the International Olympic Committee Shamil Tarpischev and President of the International Tennis Federation Francesco Ricci Bitti met them. The Russian President was also accompanied by RF First Vice-Premier Igor Shuvalov, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Government Aleksander Zhukov, RT President Mintimer Shaimiev, RT Prime Minister Rustam Minnikhanov.

The territory of the Academy adjoins the territory of the future Universiade village and is situated at the intersection of Prospect Pobeda and Orenburg Tract.

Construction of the complex started on August 29, 2007 when RT President Mintimer Shaimiev and President of the Russian Tennis Federation Shamil Tarpischev laid the first stone into the foundation of the future Academy.

The area of the Tennis Academy is 85 thousand square meters.

The complex will be used for international level trainings and competitions as well as for the tennis tournaments of the Universiade-2013.
