Russian President Dmitry Medvedev arrived in Tatarstan

October 23, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev arrived in Tatarstan. The Head of the Russian Federation was welcomed by Plenipotentiary Representative of the RF President in the Volga Federal District Grigory Rapota, RT President Mintimer Shaimiev, RT Prime-minister Rustam Minnikhanov, Chairman of the RT State Council Farid Mukhametshin and Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin at the Kazan International Aairport.

The main aim of the President’s visit to Kazan is participation in the events of the First Russian Sport Forum "Russia - Country of Sports". The Decree to hold the forum was signed by the President in July 2009. The head of state will also conduct a meeting of the Council under the President of Russia on development of physical culture and sports, sports of higher achievements, preparation and holding the 22nd Olympic Winter Games and 11th Paralympic Winter Games 2014 in Sochi, 27th World Summer Universiade 2013 in Kazan.
