FC Barcelona goalkeeper: Rubin Kazan's first goal surprised me

FC Rubin defeated Barcelona with the score 2:1 in the UEFA Champions League at Camp Nou on October 20. The Spanish club goalkeeper Victor Valdes has revealed that the first goal from Rubin Kazan took him by surprise, Goal.com informs.

Aleksandr Ryazantsev's 30 yard effort just four minutes into the game set the Russian outfit up for a memorable victory away to the champions and ensures that all four sides in the group still have it all to play for with three games remaining.

"The first goal came from a ball that made an unusual trajectory and I was surprised at the distance because nobody tries to score a goal from there," Valdes is quoted as saying. "The group is now very equal, now everything is about winning the remaining games to get through to the knockout rounds."

Valdes felt his team had done well in the game and said that all they were missing was a little luck.

"I think the team played well, tried everything, but we lacked some luck in front of goal," he said.
