Tatarstan President becomes member of RF Commission for UNESCO Affairs

New membership of the Russian Federation Commission for UNESCO Affairs was approved by RF Government Chairman’s decree №1242-r of August 28, 2009.

Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev was included in the commission along with heads of federal ministries and departments, heads of regions, figures of science and culture, UNESCO programme Russian committee’s website reports.

The Republican Commission for UNESCO Affairs operates in Tatarstan. It is a coordinating body for providing concurrence of actions taken by the Republic of Tatarstan ministries, departments, enterprises and organizations in fields within UNESCO jurisdiction. RT Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Culture Zilya Valeyeva heads the commission.
