Clariant to set up superconcentrate plant in Nizhnekamsk

Tatarstan Economy Minister Marat Safiullin has today met with representatives from the Swiss company Clariant, led by the Masterbatches Division chief Dominik von Bertrab. The parties discussed the possibility of placing the international company’s innovative production facility in Tatarstan, the Economy Ministry’s press service reports.

The parties discussed attracting direct investments starting from 1.5 million euros. The firm is set to roll out construction of a factory producing masterbatches for dying and modifying all types of plastics in mid-January in Nizhnekamsk. Marat Safiullin remarked the project was an important one for both Tatarstan and Clariant, giving as an example the under-construction oil refinery in Nizhnekamsk and the Chimgrad technopolis in Kazan. The minister added that Tatarstan was Russia’s larger chemical centre.

Clariant's annual sales are $8 billion. It is a leader in the field of development and production of innovative chemical products and intensification of oil recovery. The company is Europe’s largest consumer of sulfur and of other side products of oil refineries. Clariant’s core businesses include textile, chemicals for leather and paper dyeing, pigments and additives, special chemicals and dye masterbatches.
