Firdaus Kabirov leading in Silk Road rally

KAMAZ-Master team pilot Firdaus Kabirov won the 5th lap of Silk Road rally-raid. This victory gave him an opportunity to lead the trucks ratings of the race.

6 motor cars and 2 truck crews were not able to start at the fifth special part. Female participants of the race – Yelena Golubkina and Yelena Pravdina (Toyota) tumbled out due to engine overheating. Russian amateur crew led by Ruslan Furidzhi also fell out of the race.

Firdaus Kabirov was the fastest among those truck crews, which remain in the race. Two-time Dakar champion left Ales Loprice on Tatra behind and outrun the main rival of KAMAZ trucks - Dutch Gerard de Roy by 20 minutes. Kabirov’s breakaway from de Roy Junior totals 27 minutes in the overall rating.

The previous leader of trucks rating Vladimir Chagin suffered a set-back. He is leading in the middle of the race special part, but 7 kilometres before the finish his KAMAZ lost a wheel.

What about motor cars, Volkswagen crews continue the struggle between each other. Giniel de Villiers was the fastest of the car plant four pilots – it is the first winning lap of Silk Road for him. The leader Nasser Al-Attiyah was only 7 seconds behind; Mark Miller lost almost 3 minutes; Carlos Sainz was the last in the list of Volkswagen racers with a breakaway of 4 minutes 13 seconds.
