September 9, the President of the Republic of Tatarstan had a meeting with Vladimir Putin, Russian Prime-Minister. During the meeting Vladimir Putin and Mintimer Shaimiev discussed socio-economic situation of the region, as well as issues related to holding of the Universiade-2013 in Kazan.
Vladimir Putin informed of the decision to allocate additional funds from federal budget for preparations of the Universiade-2013 in Kazan. He announced, that yesterday he had decided to allocate extra 4 billion roubles for execution of works to prepare Kazan for hosting the Universiade-2013.
Let us remember that 70% of expenses for the preparation of this sporting event are covered by federal funds. At the moment Republic has received 6,98 billion roubles from federal budget.
Estimating the socio-economic situation in Tatarstan, RT President mentioned, that the financial crisis has less influenced the social sphere of the Republic, as it was expected.
The head of the Republic pointed out, that few years ago Vladimir Putin actively recommended to develop petrochemistry and oil-refining industries in the region. In this connection Mintimer Shaimiev mentioned, that the first stage of the Nizhnekamsk petrochemical complex will start in 2010.
A project concerning the building of a complex of oil-refining and petrochemical factories in Nizhnekamsk city, being realized by OAO Tatneft will contribute to the effective refining of high-sulphur hydrocarbon raw materials and, as a result, to quality-improvement of Russian export oil.
M. Shaimiev also announced the reduction of unemployment grade in Tatarstan. According to him, the governmental mechanism, worked out in order to support the employment, shows its effectiveness in Tatarstan. Particularly, the region has spent 1,3 billion roubles to this effect. “The second tranche totals one billion roubles”, - said M. Shaimiev.
“As for me, the essential result is that in the course of the year we had less social problems, as it was supposed”, - summed up M. Shaimiev. He expressed his confidence in the overcoming the crisis in the Republic, if the growth of Tatarstan’s industrial production will continue.
