Executive Directorate for 27th Summer Universiade in Kazan set up

The Prime Minister of Tatarstan Roustam Minnikhanov has attended a general meeting of founders and advisory board at the Executive Directorate of 27th World Summer Universiade 2013 in Kazan independent non-profit organisation. The meeting, chaired by the head of Russian Sports, Tourism and Youth Policy ministry chief Vitaly Mutko, was held in Moscow.

The meeting decided to set up an independent non-profit organisation Executive Directorate of 27th World Summer Universiade 2013 in Kazan. The new entity’s general director was appointed Vladimir Leonov. The directorate’s supreme management body will be an advisory board, whose chairman was elected Vitaly Mutko and deputy chairman Roustam Minnikhanov.

The advisory board includes a state secretary, deputy minister of sports, tourism and youth policy of Russia, executive secretary of the organising committee for preparing and holding the 27th World Summer Universiade 2013 in Kazan Natalia Parshikova, Tatarstan minister of youth affairs, sports and tourism Marat Bariev, mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin, first deputy head of Kazan municipality Irshat Minkin, Russian student sports union president Oleg Matytsin and RSSU executive committee member Victoria Cherkesova.

The meeting approved the organisation’s regulations, structure and an action plan for 2009.

After the meeting, the Tatarstan sports minister said the advisor board members would set out all strategic areas of activity for the Universiade’s directorate. Besides, the advisory board is to facilitate cooperation between the newly set up entity with international sports organisations and organising committees of other World Student Games, reports the Tatarstan Cabinet of Ministers’s press service.
