Mintimer Shaimiev : future of Tatarstan in mechanical engineering

Development of mechanical engineering is one of the prioritiest tasks of the economy of Tatarstan for the nearest years. The Republic, whose significant part of export is the output of oil-extracting and petrochemical complex, has considerable potential opportunities for developing machine-building branch. However, so far they are used not to the full, it is necessary to launch production of competitive products of a machine-building complex.

So the President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev has declared in an opening address at the extended session of the RT Cabinet which was held in Kazan. The main themes of the session became preliminary results of work in real sector of economy in the first half-year 2003, the forecast and tasks of social and economic development for 2003-2004 years, and the ways of solving the problems of population employment. Prime minister Rustam Minnikhanov , Chairman of State council Farid Mukhametshin, heads of the ministries and departments, people's deputies, heads of region and city administrations , chiefs of the large enterprise took part in the session .

The president of Tatarstan made a point that issues of the further industry growth and increase of total regional product are the prioritiest, determining and promoting to solution of social and economic problems in republic. "Points of growth " Mintimer Shaimiev named such branches, as petrochemistry, mechanical engineering, aviation -and instrument making, pharmaceutics. A condition of their dynamical growth should become investment activity on the part of bank structures. It is important to involve credit mechanisms that each enterprise had access to necessary financial resources. Actual task is also development and support of business.

Mintimer Shaimiev paid a special attention to social problems and expressed the concern in connection with insufficient rates of wage growth in the republic. It is not provided for a while full liquidation of wage arrears and in a number of regions of republic problems of employment of the population got aggravated.
