Tatarstan Prime Minister Rustam Minnikhanov held a meeting with Microsoft Russia President Nikolai Pryanishnikov on July 8. Nikolai Pryanishnikov and Tatarstan Centre for Informational Technologies director Nikolai Nikiforov talked to journalists after the meeting.

Nikolai Nikiforov reminded that in 2006 Tatarstan became the first Russian region to sign an agreement with Microsoft on licensing software products at the republican authority bodies. Considerable experience of cooperation has been gained so far; modern technologies are tested at government bodies.

Nikolai Pryanishnikov emphasized that cooperation between Microsoft company and Tatarstan is efficient. “Tatarstan Government is one of the most, or probably the most efficient in terms of using IT-technologies,” N. Pryanishnikov stated.

Participation of Microsoft corporation in preparation and organization of the Universiade in Kazan was discussed at the meeting. “This is a world-wide scale event. It will require technologies of the global level,” Nikolai Nikiforov believes.

According to Nikolai Nikiforov’s words, Rustam Minnikhanov paid much attention to educational technologies. “The Prime Minister thinks that new technologies must be implemented through education, because we receive informational technology consumers within several years,” N. Nikiforov told journalists.
