Mintimer Shaimiev: under crisis conditions petroleum branch is playing a crucial role for Tatarstan

A traditional annual meeting of heads of republican oil companies with participation of Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev took place in the Yelabuga district on July 6.

Before the meeting, the head of Tatarstan got acquainted with mobile expositions of Tatneft and RITEK where state-of-the-art technologies and prospects of developing new oil fields.

Mintimer Shaimiev marked that the meeting was held for the ninth time focusing on issues that were crucial for the country. The peculiarity of that oil summit was that it was held under the conditions of the global financial crisis which had noticeably affected the economy of the country and republic, fifty percent of output of which was export oriented.

The meeting was also affected by RT Prime Minister Rustam Minnikhanov, State Council Chairman Farid Mukhametshin and heads of some ministries, agencies and municipal formations of the republic.
