Kazan chemical thermodynamics forum gathers nearly 400 experts

The 17th international conference on chemical thermodynamics began at Tatarstan Academy of Science in Kazan on June 30. It is one of the largest and most significant conferences in Russia. Nearly 400 Russian and foreign specialists participate in the event.

“Chemical thermodynamics is a fundamental field of science, which is an absolutely essential part of scientific culture,” the forum chairman, Russian Academy of Science academician Yury Tretyakov said in his speech.

First Vice-Premier of Tatarstan Boris Pavlov welcomed the forum participants on behalf of Tatarstan Prime Minister Rustam Minnikhanov.

In his speech, Boris Pavlov emphasized that “in current difficult situation due to the global economic crisis and low oil prices, issues of deep oil processing are of particular importance at present.” “The conference is a serious scientific event and, at the same time, a topical event within economic framework,” he said.

Tatarstan capital has been chosen to host the 17th international conference on chemical thermodynamics not by chance. Kazan is a large educational and research centre. The republic is the country’s leading region in chemical and petrochemical industries. Despite the crisis impact, new enterprises of the industry open here at present: industrial park of high technologies Khimgrad, mineral fertilizers plant JSC Ammoniy, oil-refining enterprises complex JSC Taneko, etc.
