Tatarstan Economy Ministry holds video conference with World Bank

The Tatarstan Economy Ministry has held a video conference with World Bank representatives.

World Bank specialists are to help improve the local innovation strategy, creating an optimum practice of formulating a policy in the sphere of innovations, to evaluate the real innovative level of Tatarstan’s companies and the degree of its correspondence with the current statistics.

Besides, the competent specialists are to devise and present a “model” of an innovation forum that , the economy minister Marat Safiullin considers, should be regularly held in Tatarstan. The Tatarstan innovation forum should tangibly help create an economy highly-competitive on the domestic and global markets.

Marat Safiullin held a meeting to discuss the said areas of cooperation. The participants of the talk were the finance institution’s Department of Private and Finance Sector for Europe and Central Asia director Fernando Montes-Negro and department staff members.

The Tatarstan party was represented by staff members from the Economy Ministry, Public Chamber and the Academy of Sciences of Tatarstan.

“It is very important for us to have an objective assessment of the reality in the republic’s innovative field, to have a mechanism to synchronise the activities of fall the entities involved, to develop a culture of relations, to have an instrument for scanning certain indicators and to answer the question why there is no effect on some of the innovative activities,” emphasised the minister.

He said the planned measures included a “technology audit check” (assessment of competitive advantages in the field of innovations and technologies), assessment of organisational efficiency at local research and development centres, effectiveness of the available innovative infrastructure and of the financial instruments used for innovations.
