Tatarstan commissions new aerodrome

23 June 2009, Tuesday
Tatarstan has put in operation a new airfield, designed to service lightweight aircraft, said the Tatarstan Transport Ministry’s press service.

The ground is located not far from the Kirbi village in Tatarstan’s Laishevo region. The opening of the new aerodrome is part of a Concept of Small Aviation Development until 2015, devised by the Transport and Road Economy Ministry.

According to the concept, the ground is to facilitate national and local air transportation and to contribute to the development of the private flights sector with the use of vacant airspace. The concept provides for creation of an infrastructure of regional aerodromes, heliports and landing grounds, upgrading the flight control mechanisms, simplification of the flight permit issuance system, as well as renewal of small aircraft fleets.

The implementation of the concept is expected to make the use of small aircraft a common practice.

The Tatarstan’s air fleet was not long ago added with 4 Cessna Aircraft vehicles.
