English to be taught in a new way in Tatarstan

The English language in secondary educational institutions of Tatarstan will be taught from a new angle. Tatarstan Deputy Minister of Education and Science Andrei Pominov stated it at a press-conference at Tatmedia agency.

The deputy minister’s also informed seminars focused on changing the system of language training at republican secondary schools were organized in spring 2009 under the aegis of Tatarstan Education and Science Ministry.

Andrei Pominov told journalists that it has been decided that the annual republican festival of the English language in Tatarstan.

Disputes about the necessity of changing the system of teaching English in Tatarstan began after Kazan had been announced the capital of the Universiade-2013. Over 10 thousand guests from all over the world will assemble at the large-scale sport forum. In this connection, Kazan must be ready to receive the guest. That’s why hotel and restaurant managers, interpreters, law-enforcement personnel, journalists and others must learn English.
