Preparation for International Islamic Business and Finance Summit in Kazan in progress

The preparation for the International Islamic Business and Finance Summit, to be held in Kazan on 25-26 June, is in progress.
The forum’s holding is supported by a number of Russian and international business entities, including the Islamic Development Bank.
The organising committee’s director Linar Yakupov told a news conference in Moscow that the summit was by no means intended to be a regional event. He called the mass media for conveying the organisers’s idea to the public and to help make Kazan an international venue, where all Russian regions had equal opportunities to present their potential.
Informational support for the summit is provided by the information and rating agency AK&M, Russian Business Newspaper, Russian business portal Alliance Media, Interstate TV and radio company Mir, the information agencies Kazinform, Trend Capital (Azerbaijan), Russia Today news channel, Al Jazeera broadcasting in Arabic, and others.
The summit’s partners are the Russian public organisation Business Russia, Centre for Prospective Economic Research, Academy of Sciences of Tatarstan, Russia-Arab Business Council, Association of Small and Medium Business and other firms.
The sponsors are Tatneft, Islamic Development Bank, Islamic Corporation for Private Sector Development, and the Ak Bars Development company.
The purpose of the summit is to assemble in one venue representatives from the largest foreign business entities, including leading banks, as well as investment and finance institutions from the Middle East. The summit’s participants will be able to build international business relations. Attracting foreign investments is especially relevant for Tatarstan.
The summit’s participants will be given an overview of the current state and prospects for Russia and Islamic World’s key industries’s development and to examine real transactions on attracting finance based on the Islamic finance principles. A separate workshop is to focus on the current state and prospects for Islamic finance institutions in the world and in Russia. The summit will also highlight the development of small and medium businesses as the key driving force in all economies.
On 20 January in the evening Russian President Vladimir Putin called Tatarstan State Counselor Mintimer Shaimiev and congratulated him with his birthday. During the conversation Vladimir Putin stated that he is happy to hear bright voice of Mintimer (Sharipovich) and wished him good health and all the best.
On 20 January, congratulating Tatarstan State Counselor Mintimer Shaimiev with his birthday, the Chairman of the Russian Government Mikhail Mishustin wrote in his telegramme: “Being a famous and political leader, you have made a substantial contribution into modern development of Tatarstan and have earned the deep respect and gratitude of residents of the republic.
On January 20, the First President of Tatarstan, State Counsellor of the republic Mintimer Shaimiev celebrates its 89 birthday.
He received numerous congratulations from the state and regional leaders, public figures, figures in science, education and culture and residents of the country and Tatarstan.
On 16 October in the Kazan Kremlin Tatarstan State Counselor Mintimer Shaymiev, who is also the Chairman of the Trustees Council of the regional Revival Fund, had a meeting with the Director General of the State Hermitage Mikhail Piotrovsky, who came to Kazan to take part in a ceremony of opening a new exposition “The Yusupovs. Luxury across the Centuries” at the Hermitage Kazan Exposition Center and which has been prepared especially for the 20th anniversary of the Hermitage’s first representational centre established in 2005 by celebrations of the Kazan Millennium.
