Ambassador of Korea to Russia visits Kazan State University

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to Russia Lee Kyu Hyung visited Kazan State University on Saturday June 6. He met with KSU Pro-Rector of general issues and lifelong learning Riyaz Minzaripov and the director of the Eastern Studies Institute and Confucius Institute Jamil Zainullin. The guest was informed about the history of collaboration between Kazan University and the Republic of Korea, and also contemporary problems and situation.

Mr Lee Kyu Hyung is convinced that the Embassy of Korea will render assistance in development and consolidation of dynamically developing cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Korea.

The guest visited the Museum of Kazan State University History and the 19th century classroom of the Law Department where Vladimir Ulyanov-Lenin and Leo Tolstoy attended classes.

The Ambassador took part in a meeting with students. He informed them about Russian-Korean relations. Lee Kyu Hyung stated: “Russia and Korea have had not large history of diplomatic relations, but as cooperation in all fields of life is being extended at present, I’m confident that these relations will develop further. Korean society, particularly youth, shows interest to Russia, its science and history. People in Russia are interested in Korean studies, that’s why the future of the relations depends on the young generation – on you.”
