Tatarstan Prime Minister holds meeting with Luxembourg ambassador

Tatarstan Prime Minister Rustam Minnikhanov received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg Gaston Stronck at the Republic of Tatarstan Government House on June 2.

Gaston Stronck is on a one-day introductory visit to the republic. Greeting the guest, Tatarstan premier said that the ambassador’s visit may give a new impulse to further development of relations between Luxembourg and the Republic of Tatarstan.

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg to Russia informed that the country is one of the ten world financial centres, one of the five world investor-countries. Annual investment in Russia total approximately 25 billion euros. Luxembourg is traditionally considered to be one of the three states investing in our country.

One of potential contact points with Tatarstan is development of automobile spares production (in this field the Duchy of Luxembourg is one of the leading countries in the world).

Gaston Stronck proposed to organize a visit of Luxembourg delegation to Tatarstan with the purpose to exchange experience and establish closer contacts with Tatarstan banking sector. The delegation will be made up of representatives of leading financial and

Tatarstan Prime Minister’s aide for foreign economic work Iskander Muflikhanov informed that the visit has been scheduled for the second half of October 2009.

Besides, Gaston Stronck invited representatives of the Republic of Tatarstan to take part in the Day of the Russian Federation Regions event, which is held in Luxembourg in April on an annual basis.

Iskander Muflikhanov also informed that Mr Stronck’s working trip programme includes visiting the innovative technopark ‘Idea’, meeting Tatarstan Industry and Trade Minister Ravil Zaripov, Chairman of Tatarstan Industry and Commerce Chamber Shamil Ageyev, a tour to some architectural monuments.
