A brick-making plant has opened in Vysokaya Gora district

OOO Wienerberger Kirpich, the brick-making plant, opened in the Vysokaya Gora district, Tatarstan on May 26. Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev took part in the opening ceremony.

The construction of the new enterprise located 40 km of Kazan in the village of Kurkachi was launched by Wienerberger of Austria in 2006 on the territory of the former ferroconcrete structures plant and was undertaken jointly with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

The plant’s planned capacity is 150 mln conventional bricks per year. It features ecological compatibility, low heat conductivity, winter resistance, sound proofing, durability, lesser consumption of neat cement, quicker assembly.

As part of the visit to the Vysokaya Gora district, the head of Tatarstan will also visit the multi-functional sport complex in the Vysokaya Gora settlement.

Wienerberger concern was founded in 1819 in Vienna and traded since 1869 on the Vienna Stock Exchange. In the late 20th century it became the world's largest producer of bricks and Number 2 on the clay roof tiles market in Europe, and also holds leading positions with pavers in Europe.

The concern has 243 plants in 26 countries. Its revenue in 2008 made €2.4 bln.
