Official presentation of Silk Road-2009 rally is held in Ashgabat

The Turkmenistan team will be represented by three cars and two trucks at the off-road rally Silk Road-2009. Vehicles will be prepared by the specialists of the Ashgabat KAMAZ Service Center and KAMAZ-master team. Six Turkmen sportsmen will soon arrive in the Russian city of Naberezhnye Chelny for training.
This was announced during the official presentation of the off-road rally Silk Road-2009 and the press conference in Ashgabat on May 16, Turkmenistan.ru reports. Project leader Semyon Yakubov and sporting director Jean-Marc Bonnet (ASO) reported new details about preparations for this major event. According to them, the rally route has been finalized, support routes for vehicles that will serve the rally have been updated, and camping places have been identified.
It is expected that more than twenty countries, who are the traditional Dakar and the World Cup participants, as well as novices will take part in the race. In total, about 100 cars and 50 trucks will compete in the race. The rally's prize fund provides for US $ 300 thousand for the amateur prize winners. Silk Road-2009 will be presented to the sport world and media in Berlin at the end of May.

On January 20, the First President of Tatarstan, State Counsellor of the republic Mintimer Shaimiev celebrates its 89 birthday.
He received numerous congratulations from the state and regional leaders, public figures, figures in science, education and culture and residents of the country and Tatarstan.
On 16 October in the Kazan Kremlin Tatarstan State Counselor Mintimer Shaymiev, who is also the Chairman of the Trustees Council of the regional Revival Fund, had a meeting with the Director General of the State Hermitage Mikhail Piotrovsky, who came to Kazan to take part in a ceremony of opening a new exposition “The Yusupovs. Luxury across the Centuries” at the Hermitage Kazan Exposition Center and which has been prepared especially for the 20th anniversary of the Hermitage’s first representational centre established in 2005 by celebrations of the Kazan Millennium.
