Racers from 31 countries to start a Silk Road rally in Kazan

Representatives of 31 countries will take part in the international marathon road rally Silk Road 2009 - Dakar series. Kazan will host such a high level event for the first time. The idea was offered by the head of Turkmenistan and was supported by the President of Russia. It is supposed that the rally Silk Road - Dakar series should become the largest off-road race in the Eurasian part of the world.

It is expected that some 100 automobile and 50 trucks will take part in the rally. So, Kazan will receive about 900 guests. Semen Yakubov said that the rally route is 90 percent determined. It is to start on September 5 in Kazan and finish on September 13 in Ashkhabad, Turkmenistan.
